Steven Jackson's third-period goal was the difference for Saginaw Heritage in its win over Bay Area Thunder.
Jackson found the back of the net at the 7:44 mark to break the tie. He was assisted on the goal by Tyler Angers.
The Hawks (6-10) fell behind 1-0 in the first period but managed to tie the game in the second thanks to Jacob Tweedle's goal with 2:44 remaining. Jacob Schwartz assisted on the goal.
Heritage goaltender Josh Thompson made 20 saves in the win.
“We didn't have a very good first two periods and were lucky to be tied,” Heritage coach JJ Bamberger said. “In the third period we came out with more energy and played a lot better. We capitalized on our scoring opportunities.”
