MIDLAND — Midland High scored a pair of power-play goals early in the third period and held on for a 4-3 win over Heritage Wednesday in ice hockey.
Heritage led 1-0 after one period before the defending Saginaw Valley League champion Chemics rallied to tie the game at 2-2 through two periods. Heritage pulled within one goal by scoring with 1:56 left in the game, but the Hawks couldn’t find the equalizer.
“They had the puck in our zone at the end of the game and that cost us,” Heritage coach J.J. Bamberger said. “It was a sloppy game, but it’s early. They next time we face them, it will be a lot better hockey game.”
Jacob Mackey had a goal and assist for the Hawks (1-3, 1-1 SVL) while Brandon Karl made 36 saves in goal.
