Nouvel Catholic Central will hold batting clinics for all ages and skill levels on Feb. 6, Feb. 13, Feb. 20 and April 5.

Team sessions are at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Individual instruction sessions will be held at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon.

Cost is $10 per individual session or $15 for two-person sessions.

The Show Your Heart Benefit Comedy Show Friday January 29 took place just as scheduled despite the headliner’s flight being delayed. 

 Comedian D.L. Hughley one of the original Kings of Comedy, came out to Delta College for an American Heart Association benefit on behalf of the Dorian Styles Dawkins Foundation.  Dawkins was the 14-yr old son of future Saginaw Hall of Famer, Saginaw High School coach Lou Dawkins and Loomis Math, Science, and Technology Academy Principal Latricia Dawkins. He collapsed as a result of a heart condition on June 12, 2009 at a basketball game in East Lansing, a day Lou Dawkins says, “No one should ever have to go through!”

Brandon Webb was the opening act for the event. Webb, who goes by the moniker B-Webb is a Christian Rapper. He proved to be a tough act to follow after performing high intensity energy songs like Random Thoughts and a crowd moving Let’ Em.



Freeland Little League Registration in Full Swing 2-4-10
Registration for the 2010 Freeland Little League season has begun on-line.

You may register your child on-line for baseball or softball at the leagues website. You can save money by signing up online before Feb. 9th.

In-person registration will take place at the Freeland SportsZone on February 8th, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Former Red Wing Chris Chelios signs the hockey jersey of 8 year old, Ara Nab, son of Susan Nab of Saginaw. Chelios was in town to sign autographs at the new Verizon Wireless store on State st. on Sunday afternoon.

Green Point Environmental Learning Center will hold a Free Ice Fishing Day for Kids on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center is located at 3010 Maple Street in Saginaw. It is part of the winter FREE fishing weekend in Michigan, Saturday and Sunday.

Children will learn how to safely ice fish on Green Point's pond. Bring your own ice fishing gear or borrow some from the center. Bait will be provided, and holes will be drilled for young anglers.

Fishing is catch-and-release. Two (summer-style) spincast rods will be given away in a drawing at 12:30 p.m.
